1) You are writing about a winter time holiday, but
ONLY ONE PERSON IS ALLOWED EACH HOLIDAY SO YOU HAD BETTER CLAIM IT RIGHT HERE AND QUICKLY OR SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO EXCEPTIONS AND NO FIGHTING
There are plenty of holidays don't be afraid to do a little browsing into other faiths. And since this has to do with religion in part I want to openly state my no tolerance policy for religion bashing. If I see any of it anywhere you will be kicked out of the club and DA will be following up on it as well.
2) At least 20 lines
3) You cannot use the name of the holiday in the poem, state it in the description.

Hi ya'll. Its been awhile.
This is a new sort of contest. I'm trying to be creative, so sue me.
~First off, I would like to start with a few fun facts:
1. According to Time Magazine's poll last year, 12% of women over 25 said they had read a book in its entirety last year; 6% of men said th
Well, aren't I prompt?
Anywho, here is your contest!
Because as of late I am obsessed with Billy Collins (as well as other random poets, watch for more poet-watching sorts of contests) for no good reason, this contest shall be centered around his poem:
Another reason why I don't keep a gun in the house
The neighbors' dog will not stop barking.
He is barking the same high, rhythmic bark
that he barks every time they leave the house.
They must switch him on on their way out.

I close all the windows in the house
and put on a Beethoven symphony full blast
but I can still hear him muffled under
As promised, I'm submitting the contest rules for contest six, which I'm titling "Silence Speaks".
Rules are pretty loose, all you have to do is concentrate on the topic of silence using extended metaphor.
So, the short version of the rules:
*topic is "silence"--take it wherever you want.
*use of extended metaphor
*21 lines or less
*you may not use this short list of words:
-silence
-quiet
-stillness
(this includes all forms of these words)
Have fun. The deadline for this contest is August 10.
(If this isn't your cup of tea, there will be more contests to come, some more structured, some less.
Contest Five is finally here.
So far we've delved into eroticism, experimentation, insults, torture and now, finally -
Birth
Birth can be interpretated in various ways, shapes and forms. Consider it to have a wider definition. Use this theme as a firm basis to create a unique and original piece of poetry.

But it doesn't stop there, folks. poetrehab (https://www.deviantart.com/poetrehab) gets mean. poetrehab (https://www.deviantart.com/poetrehab) is searching for ONE poem which exceeds expectation and shows orginality with the theme of birth. And, as ever, rules apply with this game :)

Right O chums, Contest Four is here. Rosie's left me ~clements, with the task of setting the fourth contest. So here goes.

We've sunken to the depravities of Eroticism, cussed with Insults and experimented with, er Experimentaion. I thought i'd go a note cheerier by adding the new contest:
Torture
This can be challenged however you may challenge it, although take into account that there are various factors for torture. Consider recent events i.e. the Iraqi prisoners under torture, or perhaps even take 'Torture' in a less negative tone (S & M poetry would be interesting...*cough*). You are free to do whatever you like.

1. The word love is hereby banished from all future poems. Except on Wednesdays. Or during rare celestial events: a blue moon, the aurora borealis.
2. Ditto on all references to beauty and its second cousin twice removed, the beautiful.
3. Parenthetical phrases set off by either full-fledged parantheses or more straightforward dashes are from here on out verboten.

Here's a fun one...(I'm just full of fun things).
The picture on the preview image is by acidround (https://www.deviantart.com/acidround) and can be found here for his description of it http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/6640452
acidround (https://www.deviantart.com/acidround) is SUPER talented and you should all check him out even if you don't enter the contest.
Your job is to write a poem from this image :)
Guidelines:
~Use an experimental structure. If anyone +watches me( queenhrosie (https://www.deviantart.com/queenhrosie) ), you know I frequently mess around with structure. I think it can help you grow as a writer to try something new. Try something prosey, something with a new kind of lineation, a new use of white space. SURPRIS
Yessiree, I have no idea if I am submitting this contest in the correct way, but I looked at other clubs and they seemed to do it like this.
Anyways,
I talked to hidden8707 (https://www.deviantart.com/hidden8707) today and he had a FABULOUS idea for a contest (keep in mind he is "thinking about" joining so please annoy him into joining with notes, excessive comments and the like.)
So here I would like to write me a good insult poem. You can insult anyone ya want. Preferably, I would find insulting fellow dA-ers would amuse me the most. But you can really feel free to rant about your mom or broeknarms (https://www.deviantart.com/broeknarms) or your slacker brother, WHOEVER YOU WANT! Lets just not be THAT
+
Oooh yes, erotic poems, kids! devious-smile (https://www.deviantart.com/devious-smile) gave me the idea for this one.
There isn't enough good erotic poetry out there! So, it is all of your jobs to make me a fabulous one.
You can be raunchy or romantic, whatever. Sometimes the most beautiful words are the least expected, so try something new! If you have never written an erotic poem, perhaps now is the time to try!
Everybody's doing it...you know you wanna....
*winks*
Guidelines:
~ 26-36 lines long (because, boys, its always better when it takes longer, heh!)
~use the words: circumference, pinched, skip, metallic, grotesque, and refrigerator (can be used in different

Hello to all, long time no see.
This is ~lovelorn (https://www.deviantart.com/lovelorn)
First off I would like to thank everyone for these amazing suggestions you've given us, please, keep them coming.
In an attempt to slowly get us up and back working condition here I am going to be working independently on a new suprise project as a gift to everyone. But at the same time, it is going to promote some discussion and mabey even ... *big eyes* it will be the new threshold we need to go full force into the future. In order for me to do this idea of mine, I would like every deviant to link this journal their favourite piece of poetry they have written. That is all I need. I w
A brief update, by !clements (https://www.deviantart.com/clements)
Thank you for the input regarding this journal and its questions. Please keep your suggestions coming in, despite the slight hiccup with the updated journal. All have been taken in and will be processed by the staff.
Just a thought...
With most groups it seems, on this website, a large proportion of its watchers do not include themselves within journals or contests. This is a common thing - look at your list of watchers and see how many you have in comparison to the comments you get on your work. The ratio is interesting, right?
It seems many of the watchers prefer your avatar as opposed to your writing.
Edit: A reminder.
Welcome ArmorFelix2001 (https://www.deviantart.com/armorfelix2001) and Dark0Dark (https://www.deviantart.com/dark0dark) as part of the administrative team for poetrehab (https://www.deviantart.com/poetrehab).
poetrehab (https://www.deviantart.com/poetrehab) is still on the lookout for potential members to get on board and help out. If you're interested, send a note to the account.

Notice:
Members and watchers of poetrehab (https://www.deviantart.com/poetrehab), as you may have figured from the last journal, this community needs a 'facelift'.
There is no point in lying to you; the number in the administrative team has decreased, as well as the number of watchers. This is disheartening, yet the number of watchers increases every day.
We'd like to thank you for the support
